Ralph Edwin Barnes

Ralph Edwin Barnes, 69, of Hillsboro, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 8, 2023 at his home. 

He was born May 6, 1954 in Hillsboro, the son of the late Paul E. and Mary Frances (Vance) Barnes. 

Ralph attended the Harwood Christian Church and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior on June 4, 2023. He worked at Hobart/PMI in Hillsboro for 26 years, fueled planes at Airborne Express for two and a half years and retired from R & L Carriers after 18 years as a straight truck driver. 

Ralph is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Judy (Osborn) Barnes, whom he married Oct. 27, 1973 at the Harwood Church. He is also survived by his daughter, Michelle (David) Fish; his son, Chad Barnes; nine grandchildren, Devin (Brooklyn) Liming, Drew Liming, Dylan Fish, David (Heather Beard) Fish, Erin Fish (Steven) Wanninger and Zane, Corbin, Brantly and Khloe Barnes; three great-grandchildren, Dominic Liming, Paislee Liming and Arta Liming; a nephew, Brian Davis; a sister-in-law, Nancy (Rick) Stegbauer; two brothers-in-law, Dennis (Debbie) Osborn and Randy (Pam) Osborn; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Danny Davis. 

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at 1 p.m. at the Davis-Turner Funeral Home in Lynchburg. Mike Sandlin and Leo Kuhn will officiate. Burial will follow in the Harwood Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
