Zella Mae Knaff

Zella Mae Knaff went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at her residence after a long battle with cancer.
She was born April 1, 1930 in Hillsboro, the daughter of the late Willard Henry and Lucille Kittrell, and was the oldest of five children.
Zella Mae graduated from Hillsboro High School. She retired from American Tool Company and also retired as a greeter from Wal-Mart, both of Wilmington. She was a faithful, dedicated member of Cornerstone Baptist Church and a member of the Wilmington Senior Citizens, where she was well-loved.
She is survived by her son, James (Lynne) Dixon of Wilmington; daughters, Madeline (William) Cummings of Columbus, Tonita Rickman of Hillsboro and Cathy Knaff of Wilmington; brothers, Willard (Kathleen) Kittrell Jr., of The Villages, Fla. and Gilbert Kittrell of Lincoln, Neb.; 15 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Abraham Knaff, Sr.; her son, Abraham Knaff Jr.; daughters, Marilyn (Punkin) Morrell and Patricia Knaff; brother Gene Kittrell; sister Evelyn Kittrell; three grandchildren, Anthony Dixon, Gary Scott, Jr. and Abraham Knaff III; and one great-grandchild, André Lee Cole.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, April 6, 2015 at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 225 Randolph St in Wilmington. Pastor Byron McGee will officiate. Friends may call on Monday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Clinton Memorial Gardens, Wilmington.
