William V. 'Pete' West

William V. "Pete" West, 96, of Lynchburg, passed away Jan. 25, 2015 at Bethesda North Hospital in Montgomery.
He was born Dec. 5, 1918 in Lynchburg, the son of the late Clarence Earl West and Virginia Emma (Noble) West.
Pete was a member of Highland Lodge 38 F & AM, York Rite, Hillsboro Chapter No. 40, Highland Commandry No. 31, Hillsboro Council No. 16, and was a member of Hillsboro Church of Christ, where he had served as an elder for several years.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he retired from Columbus & Southern Electric Company after several years of service.
Surviving family members are four daughters, Linda (John) Brown of Marion, Carolyn (Jim) Byrd of Hamilton, Patty (Ken) Kessler of Troy, Kathy Holbrook of Lynchburg; eight grandchildren, John William Brown, Susan Beckman, Lori Amick, Kelli Kazmaier, Jennifer Fields, Carrie Weir, Jon Holbrook and Megan Brault and their spouses; 18 great-grandchildren; brother, Clarence West of Tennessee; a sister, Evelyn Davidson of Franklin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by wife, Mildred K. "Millie" West; three brothers, Charles "Lou" West, Frank West and Raymond West; two sisters, Elizabeth West and Mary Helen Hawk; and son-in-law, Jeff Holbrook.
Services will be held at Hillsboro Church of Christ on Saturday, Jan. 31 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Andrew Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery, where the Highland County Honor Guard will conduct military honors.
Friends will be received at Hillsboro Church of Christ on Friday, Jan. 30 from 4-8 p.m.
The Rhoads-Edgington Funeral Home is serving the family.
