William S. Wright, 83, passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at Hilliard Assisted Living.
He was born Feb. 25, 1939 in Lyndon, the son of Harold and Marie (Robinson) Wright.
Bill received his bachelor's degree from Ohio University in 1961 and master's degree from Wright State University in 1970. He served as assistant principal at Beavercreek High School from 1975-1978. In 1978, Bill became a Secondary Consultant for the Greene County Board of Education and held that position until 1982, when he was appointed Director of Secondary Education. He was then appointed Assistant Superintendent and served in that capacity from 1987 until 1993, when he was appointed Superintendent of the Greene County Educational Service Center, retiring in 1999.
After retirement, Bill served as business manager for the Sugarcreek Local Schools from 1999 until 2011. He was a member and Past President of the Greene County Retired Teachers Association and the Xenia Kiwanis Club. Bill was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church (now the Xenia United Presbyterian Church), where he served as a Ruling Elder. He enjoyed singing in the church choir and was active in many of the church committees.
He is survived by a daughter, Joanie (Frank) McLain; a son, Greg Wright; five grandchildren, Mallory and Matthew McLain and Luke, James and Andrew Wright-Nguyen; sister, Mary Ann (Harry) Noble; niece, Pam (Steve) Noble Lubbers; and nephew, Phil (Anne) Noble.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy (Holloway).
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 1 at noon at the Xenia United Presbyterian Church, where visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow at South Salem Cemetery.
