William Paul Mann, 75, of Greenfield, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2022 at home with family.
He was born May 4, 1946 in Columbus, the son of Ray William Mann and Minnie Allice Harper Mann.
He was a 1965 graduate of Buckskin High School and was a member of the Good Shepherd Church of Greenfield, Greenfield Liars Club, Dragin’ Angels Car Club and the Greenfield Tractor Club.
He retired from Wear Ever Aluminum and Paint Creek State Park. He also was a volunteer firefighter for many years for the City of Greenfield during his younger years. Bill spent his retired years working for the Ungers on their family farm.
He had a love for working on old cars and was very proud of his 1956 Ford. He loved to take drives often to see friends and family and loved listening to country music along the way. Bill also had a love for guns.
He was well-known in the community. Anyone who knew him knew that he was full of sarcasm and laughter. He lived life to the fullest, and he loved his wife and family dearly. He never knew a stranger, no matter where he went. In addition to his family and friends, he loved his dogs Sam and Bo more than life itself. He will be missed.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sheila Jean (Beatty) Mann; two sons, Todd (Bert) Mann of Morrow and Bryan (Lee Ann) Mann of Greenfield; one daughter, Deidra (Robbin) Hamilton of Greenfield; seven grandchildren, Erica (Matt) Stapleton of Arizona, Brandon (Marissa) Mann of Leesburg, Zachary (Lauren) O’Connor of Greenfield, Cailey Branham of Frankfort, Jacob (Janet) Branham of Tennessee, Bryanna Mann of Leesburg, Cody (Madison) Mann of Alabama; six step-grandchildren, Britni (Matt) Willisa of Indiana, Robert (Chelsea) Hamilton of Greenfield, Aron (Cynthia) Hamilton of Indiana, Landon Gilbert of Greenfield, Elaina Gilbert of Greenfield and Payton Long of Greenfield; 13 great-grandchildren, Tanner, Keegan, Olivia, Cali, Alex, Bexley, Wyatt, Abel, Jackson, Gabriel, Amelia, Gypsy, Rawley and Royce; 10 step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Sue (Joe) Current of Greenfield; one brother, Gary (Shirley) Mann of Greenfield; four brothers in-law, Bob (Tammy) Beatty of Florida, Fred (Sandy) Beatty of Greenfield, Randy (Cheryl) Beatty of Bourneville and Dave Beatty of Greenfield; three sisters in-law, Thelma (Jasper) Grose of Greenfield, Bev (Randy) Johnson of Florida and Jenny (Robbie) Gwaltney of Fairborn; and numerous nieces and nephews, including special nephew, Dean Mann. He had a few special people he called his kids; those include Jason and Jimmy Unger and Katrina (Knisley) Cullom.
He was preceded in death by both parents, Ray and Minnie Mann; mother-in-law, Audrey Beatty; father-in-law, Fred Beatty; three sisters, Mary Jane Bennet, Loretta Genevive Smith and Anna Lee Detty; and four brothers, Harley Jo Mann, Bobbie Gene Mann, Ray William Mann (stillborn) and Donald Richard Mann (stillborn).
Funeral service will be Saturday, Jan. 29 at 4 p.m. at Good Shepherd Church in Greenfield with Pastor Scott Graham officiating. As per his wishes, cremation will follow.
Visitation will be Saturday from 1-4 p.m. at the church.
The Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield is serving the family.
