William “Lowell” Swayne, 90, of Hillsboro, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2022 in Mason.  
 
He was born Jan. 17, 1932 in Locust Grove, the son of the late George William Swayne and Ona Ethel Freeze Swayne.
 
Lowell was a member of the Hillsboro Church of Christ and Hillsboro Masonic Lodge #38 F&AM. He had retired from the Highland County ODOT as a heavy equipment operator and before that was in the construction business. He was also a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean War.
 
Surviving are his wife, Winona “Nonie” Swayne, whom he married July 2, 1957 in Lawrenceburg, Ind.; two sons, Bill (Lisa) Swayne and Tom Swayne; five grandchildren, Tabitha Swayne, Roxie (Tyler) Barker, Brady (Amber) Swayne, Jordy Swayne and Dusty (Amie) Swayne; five great-grandchildren, Grayson, Oxphinn, Xander James, Brier Rose and Crue; sister, Kay Cofer; and several nieces and nephews.
 
In addition to his parents, Lowell was preceded in death by five brothers, Russell, Lester, Dean, Lloyd and Dennis Swayne; and four sisters, Weathly Henise, Zelma Knauff, Opal Browning and Ermaline Rhoads.
 
Services will be held Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 1 p.m. at the Hillsboro Church of Christ, 155 Walnut St., Hillsboro, with Pastor James Bush officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the Locust Grove Cemetery.
 
Friends will be received Saturday, April 2, 2022 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the church.
