William "Bill" Lewis, 75, of Springboro, passed away Thursday, Nov. 11, 2021 after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease and Lewy Body Dementia.
Bill was born Feb. 12, 1946 in Hillsboro, the son of the late Lester Lewis and Mabel Vance Lewis.
He grew up in Mowrystown and graduated from Whiteoak High School in 1964. Bill had a very strong work ethic and was often found working on his uncle's farm.
He proudly served four years in the United States Marine Corps. During his time in the military, he served as a cameraman and was stationed in Da Nang, Vietnam. He was honorably discharged and received several awards including a National Defense Service Medal. Bill worked as an engineer and held several management roles for AT&T before he retired after 30 years. He enjoyed watching sports, especially when his family members were playing. He also enjoyed going out to eat and traveling with his wife, hunting, raising miniature horses, and cars, especially his 1957 Chevy.
Bill is survived by his wife, Carol Jean (Richey) Lewis, whom he married on Aug. 3, 2001; two sons, William Lewis, Jr. (Lisa) and Michael Lewis (Kathy); three grandchildren, Shelby Lewis, Kristine (Lewis) Fledderjohann (Caleb) and Justin Lewis (Crystal); five great-grandchildren; step-children Cindy Metro (Chris), Dan Mullen (Laura) and Mike Heaven; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his siblings, Jack and David Lewis, and Janet Griffith.
Friends will be received at Rhoads-Edgington Funeral Home, 138 E. Main St. Hillsboro on Tuesday, Nov. 16 from 4-6 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, Nov. 17 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Chris Gobin officiating. Interment will follow in the Mowrystown Cemetery, Mowrystown.
