William “Bill” Joseph Dotson, 79, of Lynchburg, passed away Friday, Nov. 26, 2021 at his home with his family by his side.
He was born March 26, 1942, in Newton, W.Va., the son of the late Lacy and Sarah (Rasnick) Dotson.
Bill was a 1960 graduate from Lynchburg High School. After high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, serving eight years of active duty during the Vietnam War era. Bill retired in 2008 after working over 40 years as a loader operator at Highland Stone. His passions were hunting and fishing, but what he loved the most was spending time with his wife, family and friends. He will be deeply missed.
Bill is survived by his wife of 56 years, Karen (Pfister) Dotson, whom he married Jan. 31, 1965 in Lynchburg; two children, Janie (Chip) DeBoard of Lynchburg and Jay (Jody) Dotson of Hillsboro; three grandchildren, Alisha DeBoard, Amber DeBoard and Cali Walker; three siblings, Barbara (Jim) Eakins of Shelby, Debbie Dotson of Maysville, Ky. and Nelson (Janet) Dotson of Seaman; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Chester Dotson.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2021 from 5-8 p.m. at the Davis-Turner Funeral Home in Lynchburg. Funeral services will take place Thursday, Dec. 2, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the Davis-Turner Funeral Home. Troy Dotson will be officiating. Burial, with military honors presented by the Highland County Honor Guard, will follow services in the Lynchburg Masonic Cemetery.
