W. Jean Morath, 91, of Clarksville, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at her residence in Florida.
She was born April 10, 1929 in Detroit, Mich. and later that year moved to Greenville, Ky., where she grew up with her two sisters and brother. She was the daughter of the late George William and Mabel Clara (Jenkins) Strong.
She was a member of the Moose Lodge in Detroit, Mich. prior to coming to Ohio. Jean owned and operated the Chief's Lake Bar and Grill in Clarksville for many years, retiring in 2015. She was well-known in the community for sponsoring charitable events. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling, cruising and playing cards.
Surviving are her brother, George M. Strong of Wilmington; sister, Shirley A. Strong of Greenville, Ky.; many nieces and nephews; and her dear friend, Robert Love of Arkansas. Over the years, she made many friends.
In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Hannah Whitford.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 19, 2021 at 12:30 p.m. at the Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home, 97 West Locust Street at North Mulberry Street, Wilmington. Pastor Timothy Bro will be officiating. Interment will be in the Clinton County Memory Gardens, Wilmington. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of services at the Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home.
