Virginia E. (Stroop) Watters, 89, of Hillsboro, passed away Monday, Feb. 14, 2022.
She was born Feb. 14, 1933 in East Danville, the daughter of the late Truman Sr. and Mary Elizabeth (McAdams) Stroop.
A loving mother, grandmother and homemaker, Virginia loved being around family and friends. She was always making people laugh and enjoyed cooking holiday meals, square dancing and country music, especially George Jones. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Surviving are her daughter, Faye (Larry) Edenfield; four grandchildren, Leslie (Jamie) Purtee of Lynchburg, Lisa (Melvin) Smith of Winchester, Todd (Shawna) Edenfield of East Danville and Dirk (Tina) Edenfield of Hillsboro; eight great-grandchildren, Nick, Jacob, Jordyn, Shayla, Andon, Addyson, Natalie and Xavier; two great-great-grandchildren, Callum and Lynnox; his brother, Truman Stroop of Hillsboro; several nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law, Don (Shirley) Watters of Wilmington and Bob (Peggy) Watters of Clarksville; and sister-in-law, Mary Watters of New Vienna.
In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Watters; and sisters, Loretta Pegan and Mary Francis Wells.
Services will be held Friday, Feb. 18, 2022 at 1 p.m. at Sonner's Chapel in East Danville with Pastor Lloyd Shoemaker officiating. Interment will follow in the Clinton County Memory Gardens, Wilmington.
Friends will be received at the church Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m.
Rhoads-Edgington Funeral Home, Hillsboro, is serving the family.
