Virgil Lee Creech, 77, of Hillsboro, passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon, May 29, 2016 at his residence.
He was born January 27, 1939, in Beattyville, Ky., the son of the late Louis and Martha (Raeilgh) Creech. He was an active member of the Hillsboro Open Door Community Church led by Pastor Mark Edwards. Virgil loved to play his guitar, sing gospel music and fish. He retired from Webster's Packaging after 30 years of service and proudly worked at the Maineville Kroger until 2014.
He is survived by three daughters, Rebecca (James) Slater of Hillsboro, Samantha (Jason) Shannon of Morrow and Caralina (Rufus) Brummett of South Carolina; eight grandchildren, Tabatha Deatherage, Tiffany Deatherage, Austin Deatherage, Sarah Brummett, Zachary Brummett, Logan Brummett, Jacob Shannon and Lindsey Shannon; three step-grandchildren, James, Daniel and Chloe Slater; a great-granddaughter, Reilie Castletine; a sister, Verna Watson of Pikeville, Ky.; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Christine Hournshell, Zelda Stevens, Dorthy Williams and Mary Ruth; two brothers, Homer Creech and Seldon Creech; and a nephew, Leroy Creech.
A memorial service and celebration of Virgil's life will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at the Hillsboro Open Door Community Church, 6426 East Danville Road, Hillsboro. Pastor Mark Edwards will officiate. The Turner & Son Funeral Home and Crematory in Hillsboro is serving the family.
