Tyler Ray Wilkin
We celebrate the life of Tyler Ray Wilkin, whose life was taken July 10, 2026, at the age of 35.
Born in Wilmington, Tyler was the beloved son of Samuel (Janette) Wilkin and Rita (Bradley) Storts. His adventurous spirit, generous heart and joyful outlook touched everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Always seeking life’s next, Tyler moved to San Juan, Puerto Rico in January 2024. He enjoyed life by the beach playing tennis, hiking, rock climbing, and activities to spend quality time with friends. Yet no matter where life took him, he was never too far from home. He made frequent trips back to be present with those he loved most. Whether it be his family or the close friends who became family. His love was intentional, genuine, and pure.
Tyler shared an unbreakable bond with his brother, Chance (Fazira) Wilkin and twin sister, Taylor (Nelson) Coombs. The love they shared with each other will remain a lasting legacy. Together they shared a lifetime of cherished memories traveling, playing cards, camping, endless laughter, and unwavering support. He always had an idea, a new adventure, a challenge, or an experience to share. Whether encouraging us to try something new, face our fears, or step beyond the familiar, he had a remarkable way of nudging us outside our comfort zones. He also found immense happiness in watching his younger sisters, Rilee Storts and Kourtney May-Wilkin grow into the remarkable individuals they are today. He took every opportunity to encourage, support, and cheer them on. More than anything, he loved his family.
His nieces Claire and Lydia Coombs, and nephew Caleb Coombs held a special place in his heart. He cherished every moment spent with them, claiming they were the coolest people he knew. He was the fun uncle, always ready for a dance party, a trip to the creek, or even a fashionable makeover of their choice.
Tyler also thought the world of his beloved grandmother, Wanda Dailey, never missing an opportunity to show his love, respect, and admiration for her. Her love, wisdom, and presence were a source of comfort and inspiration throughout his life. He lived life with enthusiasm and was never afraid to embrace the unexpected. He had a way of making life feel exciting and meaningful. His laughter was contagious, his smile was genuine, and his happiness was something he shared freely with everyone around him.
He was also blessed with countless close friends who became family, and proud of his role as a godfather. His loyalty, kindness, and ability to make everyone feel welcome created lifelong friendships that will continue to honor his memory. Wherever he went, he left behind smiles, lasting connections, and a reminder to live life fully.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Samuel Wilkin, Frances Wilkin, Howard Dailey and Floyd Storts; as well as an aunt, Rita Dailey.
He is survived by his loving parents Samuel (Janette) Wilkin and Rita (Brad) Storts; siblings, Chance (Fazira) Wilkin, Taylor (Nelson) Coombs, Rilee Storts and Kourtney May Wilkin; cherished nieces and nephew, Claire Coombs, Lydia Coombs, and Caleb Coombs; grandmothers, Wanda Dailey and Anna Storts; aunts and uncles, Teresa Wilkin, Marty Leigh, Marcia (Bob) Hall, Marvin (Billi) Dailey, Larry (Nancy) Dailey, Roger Dailey, Tom (Judy) Dailey and Mark (Merri) Storts; and many cousins and dear friends.
May we honor Tyler by embracing each day with the same adventurous heart and joyful spirit that he shared so effortlessly.
Friends will be received on Thursday, July 23 from 4-7 p.m. with a celebration of Tyler’s life immediately following at the Turner & Son Funeral Home, 602 N. High St., Hillsboro.
