Thomas Eugene Neal

Thomas Eugene Neal, 72, of Hillsboro, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2023, at his home.

He was born March 11, 1951 in Monticello, Ky., the son of the late Sherman and Vaine Copes Neal.

Thomas loved family gatherings with his kids and grandkids and would do anything he could for them. He enjoyed country and bluegrass music, vintage trucks and cars, and fishing. Thomas was a good and hard-working machinist. He was a dairy farmer in his younger years, which led him to his favorite television show, “The Incredible Dr. Pol.”

He is survived by the love of his life, Carolyn McCane Neal, whom he married July 25, 1970; his children, Sherman James (Michelle) Neal of Knoxville, Tenn., Sharon Jane (David) Burbage of Russellville, Cecil David (Stacy) Neal of Hillsboro and Robert Dale (Angela) Neal of Hillsboro; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Jane (Amos) Schwartz of Blanchester, Ray Neal of North Dakota, Larry Neal of Washington, Ed (Frances) Neal of Danville, Ky. and Linda (Steve) Conrad of Hillsboro; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his siblings, Arthur Neal, Everett Neal, William Porter Neal, Cecil Neal and Flora Lee Hancock.

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 1, 2023 from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. at Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. In keeping with his wishes, Thomas will be cremated following the services.

Memorial donations can be made in Thomas’s name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.
