Susan Mays, 77, of Hillsboro, passed away Saturday, Feb. 12, 2022 at Oak View Retirement Home in Seaman.  
 
She was born Jan. 31, 1945 in El Paso, Texas, the daughter of the late Samuel Smith  and Betty Sliker Smith.
 
Susan enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with her family. She was a graduate of Hillsboro High School class of 1963. Upon graduation, she moved to Washington D.C. and began working for the FBI. It was in Washington D.C. that she met her future husband, Bruce A. Mays. Following their marriage, they moved to Hillsboro and started Mays Heating and Air Conditioning, which they owned and operated together for many years.
 
Surviving are her son, Matthew A. Mays of Wilmington; daughter, Jeanette (Mat) Swartz of Loveland; and two grandsons, Cole Swartz and Devin Swartz.
 
In addition to her parents, Susan was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce A. Mays; and a special aunt, Mabel Probasco, who raised Susan after her mother died at an early age.
 
No services are scheduled at this time. The Rhoads-Edgington Funeral Home, Hillsboro, is serving the family.
