Stanley W. Markey

Stanley W. Markey was a loving family man, lifetime farmer and a pillar of the Lynchburg community. 

He was born on Sept. 18, 1943 in Greenville, and completed his journey on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at the age of 71. 

Stanley's three greatest passions were family, farming and education. Stanley was a lifetime self-employed farmer, raising soybeans and corn in Highland, Clinton and Brown counties. He honorably served in the U.S. Army with distinction during the Vietnam War. In addition, he proudly served on the Lynchburg-Clay School Board of Education, most recently as president, and Great Oaks School Board of Education for over 22 years. He was also the president of Lynchburg High School Alumni.

The most important thing to Stanley was his family. Stanley leaves behind his greatest love, his wife, Jennifer (nee Deininger) of Lynchburg. Their marriage of 46 years was filled with a great deal of love and respect. He is also survived by four children, having a special relationship with each and fully supportive in their every endeavor. He instilled in them an appreciation of education, which led to each receiving their graduate degrees, which he deemed one of his proudest achievements.

His children are Amy (Nathan) Taylor of Honolulu, Hawaii; Mindy (Mike) Grabill of Blanchester; Ryan (Katy) Markey of Lynchburg; and Melissa (James) Hutchinson of Lebanon. His beloved grandchildren who will miss him dearly are Warren Taylor, Ayla Hutchinson, Gabrielle Grabill, Riley Markey, Aria Hutchinson, Colton Grabill, Shelby Markey and Avery Markey. His family brought unmeasured happiness to him. 

A private family burial with military honors was conducted.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in the name of Stanley W. Markey to the Lynchburg-Clay School District at 301 Pearl St., Lynchburg, Ohio  45142. 

The Davis-Turner Funeral Home in Lynchburg served the family.
