Ruth Evelyn Adams, 96, of Leesburg, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2025, at the Trustwell Living at Bell Gardens Place.
She was born on Sept. 13, 1928, in Akron, the daughter of the late Ralph and Opal (Fender) Sonner.
Ruth was a 1946 graduate of Whiteoak High School, and she went on to earn her bachelor of science in home economics from Wilmington College in 1949. She met the love of her life, Harold Richard Adams, while she was attending Ohio State University. She was the Gallia County Home Economic Extension Agent until March 15, 1954, and she married Harold on April 4, 1954. Ruth taught at Lees Creek, and New Kenton before retiring from New Vienna Elementary, East Clinton on July 14, 1987. Ruth held a special place in her heart for her family. She loved spending quality time with her children and grandchildren. These cherished moments were the cornerstone of her existence, infusing her life with affection, warmth, and a sense of joy. Professionally, Ruth found immense satisfaction as a schoolteacher. She viewed the classroom as a platform to inspire, motivate, and nurture the minds of the future. Over the years, she achieved an incredible bond with her students, many of whom fondly remembered her for her unwavering commitment and unconditional love. Ruth will be remembered not just as a devoted family member, but also as a beacon of hope and inspiration to the multitude of children she taught. Her legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of all those she touched throughout her remarkable life.
Ruth is survived by her three children, Craig (Kim) Adams of Leesburg, Kevin (Melissa) Adams of Mandeville, La. and Kim Adams of Leesburg; five grandchildren, Chelsey (Mike) Pedersen of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, Ashley (Brent) Kasler of Millfield, Tyler (Becca) Adams of Covington, La., Ian Adams of Toledo and Blake Adams of Leesburg; great-grandchildren, Carson Pedersen, Clayton Pedersen, Ellie Pedersen, Karlee Kasler, Adam Kasler, Jett Kasler, Molly Adams, Sarah Jane Adams, Jack Adams, Charles Adams and many friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Richard Adams, on June 7, 2009; and a daughter, Karen Sue Adams on Feb. 15, 2022. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15 at the Hillsboro Church of Christ. Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. following visitation at the church. Burial services will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Leesburg.
