Ruth Ann Bobbitt, 81, of Leesburg, passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at her home.
She was born Aug. 15, 1939 in Leesburg, the daughter of the late Carey and Mary (Van Winkle) Payton.
Ruth was a member of the Leesburg Friends Church, loved traveling and playing cards with family and friends. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by two children, Danny Bobbitt and Sandi (Billy) Morgan, both of Leesburg; two granddaughters, Shelby (Cody) Tolle and Sydney Bobbitt, both of Mason; numerous friends; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Eugene “Gene” Bobbitt, on Sept. 10, 1996; four brothers, Donald, Robert, Edward and Tommy Payton; and three sisters, Ann Boothe, Katherine “Kate” McFarland and Mary Elizabeth “Peppy” Moore.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 12, 2021 from 5-8 p.m. at the Leesburg Friends Church. The funeral service will then be held Tuesday, April 13 at 11 a.m., also at the church. Rev. John Fitzgerald will officiate. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Leesburg. The Turner Funeral Home in Leesburg is serving the family.
