Ruby Kathryn Hamilton Wallingford, 89, of Lynchburg, passed away Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022 at Promedica/Heartland of Hillsboro.

She was born Sept. 5, 1933, in New Vienna, the daughter of the late Monroe D. Hamilton and Della Swayne Hamilton.

Ruby was a 1951 graduate of New Vienna High School. She played the violin in the band and loved to play the piano by ear. She was a member of the Hillsboro Church of Christ, and she worked her entire life as a nurse’s aide. She retired in 1993 from the Meadow View Regional Hospital in Maysville, Ky. Ruby loved her Kentucky Wildcats basketball. She loved to listen to gospel music, read novels and do puzzles. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were her pride and joy.

Ruby is survived by five children, Robert (Gael) Fawley of New Richmond, Michael (Mary) Fawley of Hillsboro, Linda (Steve) Allen of Lynchburg, Charles (Pam) Fawley of Manchester, and Ronnie Fawley of Aberdeen; a stepson, William “Tucker” (Linda) Wallingford; 12 grandchildren, Chad Fawley of Kentucky, Stephanie (Eric) Roush of Springboro, Tiffany (Joe) Gobin of Hillsboro, Brittany (Dan) Wierwille of New Knoxville, Lance Fawley of Kentucky, Shannon Fawley of Hillsboro, Shauna (Todd) Edenfield of Hillsboro, Kara (Bill) Williams of Sardinia, Matt (Valerie) Malott of Eastgate, Chris Aber of Hillsboro, Jenny (Greg) Thacker of Florida and Keli Mae Wallingford of Kentucky; 32 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy (Dan) Hiestand; a sister-in-law, Molly Hamilton; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmo Wallingford; and the father of her children, Walter Robert Fawley; an infant son, Larry Dale Fawley; a great-granddaughter, Makenna Marie Roush; 11 siblings, Leora (Charles) Swearinger, Betty (James) Jewell, Marie (Ray) Wright, Betty (Jim) Dooley, Edna (Harry) Collins, Janet (Richard) Pierson, Glenn Hamilton, Harold Hamilton, Nelson Hamilton, Ray Hamilton and Kenneth Hamilton.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7 and 10 a.m.-11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 8 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Services will be 11 a.m. Dec. 8 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Mt. Olive Cemetery.
