Ruby Jean Boatman, 90, of Cocoa, Fla, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018 in Florida.
She was born April 18, 1927 in Hillsboro, the daughter of the late Clinton and Lucille Runyon Colwell.
Following the death of her husband, Thomas E. Boatman, on Feb. 3, 1973, she moved to Port St. John, Fla. Ruby was a “jack of all trades” and did many different jobs in her lifetime. She was a maintenance worker at the Ocean Park Condominium Complex prior to her retirement. She loved her church, the First Baptist Church of Merritt Island, and loved her family above all else. She enjoyed clogging and was an instructor as well.
She is survived by one son, Thomas Boatman, Sr.; one daughter, Carol Boatman; four grandchildren, Curtis Froisland, Derek Deska, Laura Boatman and Thomas Boatman, Jr., 12 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Christine Yankee.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday, Jan. 26 from 6-8 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home.
