Roy R. "Jerry" Massie, 85, of Wilmington, passed away Monday night, Sept. 24, 2018 at home surrounded by his family.
He was born April 7, 1933 in Waverly, the son of the late Willard and Elva Mae (Johnson) Massie.
Roy worked as a truck driver for R&L Trucking, Suggs & Katter Lumber and Pricewood Lumber, where he retired in 2002.
He was a member of Wilmington Church of Christ and an United States Army veteran, having served during the Korean War.
On Aug. 9, 1956 in Waverly, he married Helen Louise Louderback Massie, who survives.
In addition to his wife, other surviving family members are his three sons, Ron (Trish) Massie, Terry Samuel (Joanna) Massie and Jerald Lee Massie, all of Wilmington; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his great-grandson, Ayden Mann; and his sister, Martha Brigner.
Funeral services will be held at Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home, 97 W. Locust St. Wilmington, Friday, Sept. 28, 2018 at 1 p.m. with Pastor Dale McCamish officiating. Interment will follow in the Clinton County Memory Gardens, Wilmington.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
