Ronald Tillis, 86, of Hillsboro, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2018 at Hospice of Cincinnati.
He was born May 3, 1931 in Sabina, the son of the late Walter G. Tillis and Dorcus Rene Woodruff Tillis.
In his early years, Ronald worked at the Ohio Highway Patrol in Wilmington. He was a private pilot and enjoyed flying over southern Ohio. Ronald then joined the U.S. Air Force, having served during the Korean Conflict. He and Yvonne Yelverton moved to California where they got married in 1956. In California, he worked in the aerospace industry and retired from Boeing in 1989. Ronald and Yvonne returned home to Ohio after retirement. He was also a member of the Hillsboro First United Methodist Church.
Surviving family members are his wife, Yvonne Tillis; four children, Jeffrey Tillis, Kevin (Colleen) Tillis, Laura Buchholz and Marcia (Peter) Malcolm; three grandchildren, Owen Malcolm, Ryan Buchholz and Brittany (Mike) McCabe; a great-grandson, Jason McCabe; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by three brothers, Harry, Charles and Walter Tillis; and seven sisters, Selma, Wilma, Wilma, Dimples, Donna, Glenna, Evelyn and Gardenia.
Services will be held at Rhoads-Edgington Funeral Home, 138 E. Main St. Hillsboro, Saturday, April 7 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Derek Russell officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the services.
