Ronald L. Swonger, 95, of Hillsboro, died peacefully at his home on Friday morning, Sept. 15, 2017.
Ronald was born June 29, 1922 in Belfast to Wilma and Alonzo Swonger.
He graduated from Belfast High School and also graduated from Wilmington College in 1947 with a bachelor’s of science in education. Ronald also proudly served the USA during World War II as a Marine. He was the owner of Swonger Dairy, Inc. for many years.
Ronald decided to return to college to achieve his childhood dream of becoming an attorney. In 1960, he received a juris doctor from Chase Law School in Cincinnati. He practiced as an attorney for 50 years in Hillsboro until the age of 90. He was also an avid jogger and ran up until the age of 89. Ronald was an inspiration to his family and all who had the good fortune to know him.
He is survived by his three daughters, Deborah Cross of Lebanon, Linda Hudec of Chillicothe and Ronda Brown and her husband, Ronald Brown of Hillsboro; his stepson, David Tirey and stepdaughter, Elaine Head Williams; and five grandchildren, Paul Hudec of Columbus, Jennifer Spohn of Columbus, April Lightle of Chillicothe, Cody Brown of Hillsboro and Macayla Brown of Hillsboro. Ronald also had an extended family consisting of nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.
A memorial service for family members only will be held on Monday, Sept. 18 at Rhoads-Edgington Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Memorials may be made to Community Care Hospice, P.O. Box 123, Wilmington.
