Roger William Shelton Sr., 76, of Hillsboro, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2022 at Highland District Hospital.
He was born Dec. 4, 1945 in Pike County, the son of the late Cecil Earl and Ruby Geneva (Edgington) Shelton.
Roger was a proud veteran of the United States Army and had retired after a career as a carpenter. He was a loving and devoted father and grandfather.
He is survived by four children, Rainee (Brent) Angles of Hillsboro, Roger Jr. (Tammy) Shelton of Mt. Orab, Regina (Joshua) Davis of Peebles and Wesley Shelton of Lynchburg; eight grandchildren, Kalan, Jordan, Logan, Sierra, Draven, Salina, Lex and Jeremiah; three great-grandchildren, Ryder, Kholson and Memphis, with a great-grandchild on the way; three siblings, Juanita Craft of Hillsboro, Don (Betty) Shelton of West Virginia and Mick (Carol) Shelton of Rainsboro; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings, Ronald Shelton, Bob Shelton, Beverly Burns and Emma Smith.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2022 from noon until 2 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Immediately following the conclusion of visitation, the Highland County Veterans Honor Guard will present military honors at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. In keeping with his wishes, cremation will follow.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Heartland (Promedica) Hospice, 208 North Fayette Street, Washington Court House, Ohio 43160.
