Roger Lee Mullenix, 79, of Hillsboro, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at the Christ Hospital in Cincinnati with his family by his side.

He was born May 15, 1942 in Hillsboro, the son of the late Vernon C. and Golda M. (Frost) Mullenix.

Roger proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1960 to 1964 in the 4th Marine Corps. He worked for over 30 years as a lineman for AEP and was a member of the IBEW Local 981. Roger was a life member of the AmVets Post #61 and a Golden Eagle for the Hillsboro Fraternal Order of Eagles Post #1161. He enjoyed fishing, turkey hunting, putting out his garden each year and giving his vegetables away to family and friends. What he truly loved was spending time at his cabin with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

Roger is survived by his three children, Beth (Rich) Mullenix Lawson of Hillsboro, Deena Mullenix of Hillsboro and Reuben (Heather) Mullenix of Hillsboro; two grandchildren, Corey Mullenix and Jessy Mullenix, both of Hillsboro; a sister, Patty (Omer) Price of Hillsboro; two sisters-in-law, Carole Mullenix and Sandy Jenkins; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Rose Mullenix on June 19, 2016; two brothers, Gary Mullenix and Kenneth Mullenix; and his best friend, Donald “Jelly” Dodds.

Visitation will be held Monday, March 14, 2022 from 5-8 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Funeral services will take place Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at 11 a.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home. Burial, with military honors presented by the Highland County Honor Guard, will follow services on Tuesday in the Hillsboro Cemetery.

Following Roger’s burial, there will be a celebration of life luncheon at the AmVets at Rocky Fork Lake, 11541 North Shore Drive, in the Social Hall. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Highland County Humane Society, P.O. Box 471, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133 or to the Highland County Society for Children and Adults, P.O. Box 258, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133.
