Rodney L. Thompson, 63, of Bainbridge, passed away suddenly March 30, 2016 at his home.

He was born Feb. 3, 1953, the dear son of Earnest J. Thompson and Lena May Mountjoy Thompson

He was the husband, best friend and true love of Sharon Henry Thompson; the beloved father of Cindy Thompson, Summer Thompson (Josh Brannon) and Zebulon Thompson (Anna Amrine); cherished grandfather of Zachary, Blaine and Sativia; and great-grandfather of Bryson.

Rod was an amazingly gifted artist, builder, inventor and fixer. He was a teacher at Great Oaks of Warren County and was a certified fourth-generation Master Mason. His accomplishments include baker of quite possibly the world’s greatest cheesecake; jovial Santa to the young and old; sharpshooter; second-place rock thrower; terrible dry beef gravy biscuit maker; restorer of Davis Mountain Fort; mushroom and arrowhead hunter; bee sucker; dancer on Skipper Ryle Show; dune buggy racer; winemaker at Glasscock Vineyard; published poet; acquaintance of Joe Perry; organic gardener; maker of walking sticks and leather goods; and an inventor of fabulous dog bath. He was musically gifted and played in several bands. He was a good listener with quiet wisdom and an exceptional man who was dearly loved.

His body was given to the University of Cincinnati and Organ Donation Program.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 15 from 5-8 p.m. at the Thompsons’ Bainbridge home.
