Roberts Predsbee McLaughlin, 91, of Hillsboro passed away Sunday, Aug. 14, 2022 at Salyer’s Adult Group Home.
He was born June 22, 1931 in Hillsboro, the son of the late Russell and Lillian Roberts McLaughlin.
Roberts was a farmer and had also worked as a coal handler on the river for Dayton Power and Light Company for over 16 years. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War and a member of the VFW Post 9094, AmVets Post 61, Highland County Veterans Honor Guard, the Fairview Church of Christ and the Highland County Antique Tractor Club.
He is survived by four children, Debra (Roger) Pence of Winchester, Robert (Karla) McLaughlin of Hillsboro, Cynthia (Phillip) Elam of Hillsboro and Rebecca (Greg) Smith of New Vienna; one daughter-in-law, Kimberly McLaughlin of Hillsboro; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Jeannette Gossett of Pricetown and Loujean Dixon of Marshall; two brothers, John “Jake” (Lois) McLaughlin of Hillsboro and Gene McLaughlin of Hillsboro; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Jean Moberly McLaughlin, on Sept. 8, 2012; one son, Ronald McLaughlin; two grandsons, Timothy McLaughlin and Steven Michael Smith; one great-granddaughter, Gabrielle Smith; one sister-in-law, Kay McLaughlin; and one brother-in-law, Roger Gossett.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 18 at 11 a.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Burial, with military honors presented by the Highland County Veterans Honor Guard, will follow in the Sugartree Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
