Roberta Jean Humphrey
Roberta Jean Humphrey, 84, passed away peacefully on Jan. 1, 2025.
She was born July 26, 1940 in Sinking Spring.
Roberta was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, who brought warmth and kindness to everyone she met during her lifetime. She will be remembered for her unwavering spirit and the joy she found in caring for others.
Roberta's legacy will live on through her children and the many lives she touched. Her work as a waitress at Thelma Jean's Restaurant in Latham and worked at Long's Retreat, was marked by her infectious smile and her caring nature, which endeared her to all who walked through her workplace doors. A faithful member of her church where she attended Byington Christian Union Church, she found joy in the art of crochet, crafting beautiful pieces that were shared among her loved ones, embodying her spirit of giving. Roberta's passion for life and her ability to brighten the day of everyone she encountered will be profoundly missed. As her family reflects on a life well-lived, they find comfort in the countless memories created over the years, woven together by love, laughter and the bonds of family.
She is survived by her loving children, Jody Humphrey, David (Tammy) Humphrey, Toby Humphrey and Sean Humphrey, Laura (Clyde) Fraley, Melanie Humphrey and Crystal (Dwight) Hatfield; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Sandra Nevil, Linda Humphrey, Cinda Mills and Tammy Montgomery; a brother, Hugh Hunt; and sisters-in-law, Patty Patterson and Nancy Hunt. Each of them carries a piece of Roberta's heart with them, a testament to the countless memories and lessons she imparted throughout her life.
Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Mitchell and Rosa (Hawk) Hunt; husband, Ronald Humphrey; son, Ronald Humphrey Jr.; a daughter, Tonda Kay Hatfield; brothers, Raymond Mitchell, Wesley Mitchell and Roger Hunt; sisters, Christa McKellop and Phyllis Scott; and stepfather, Wesley "Dude" Hunt.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8 at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Burial will follow at Westwood Cemetery.
