Robert Henry “Bucky” Shelton, 78, of Ft. Pierce, Fla., died Thursday, April 6, 2017 at his home.

He was born Oct. 26, 1938 in Hillsboro, the son of the late Cecil and Ruby Edgington Shelton.

Mr. Shelton, a Vietnam veteran, had served in the U.S. military service for 20 years, having served two years in the U.S. Army and 18 years in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Hillsboro AmVets Post 61. Bucky was an avid New England Patriots Fan and loved Tom Brady. He, along with Jeff and Michelle Mason, were dedicated everyday followers of FOX News, and he enjoyed fishing and camping.

He is survived by his wife, Connie Russell Shelton, whom he had married on Jan. 3, 2006; two children, Mitzi (Mark) Cloud of Lynchburg and Sandy (Jeff) Rowe of Hillsboro; his companion, Buffy; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Juanita Craft and Emma (Alan) Smith of Hillsboro; four brothers, Ronald (Ann) Shelton of Dayton, Donald (Betty) Shelton of West Virginia and Roger Shelton and Mitchell (Carol) Shelton of Hillsboro; two brothers-in-law, Phillip Russell of Port Orange, Fla. and Paul Russell of Columbus; and one sister-in-law, Diane Sowders of Washington C.H. Bucky will be missed by all of his friends and neighbors in Washington C.H. and Ft. Pierce, Fla.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Beverly Burns.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend a celebration of life at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 30 at the AmVets Post 61, 11541 North Shore Drive, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133. Military honors will be presented by the Highland County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends following the service at the AmVets Post. The family would like to thank the Ft. Pierce Hospice for honoring Robert’s military service by pinning him with the American Flag while in their care.
