Robert “Bob” Andrew Colthar, 89, of Lynchburg, passed away Friday, March 11, 2022 at home with his family by his side.
Bob was born Dec. 4, 1932 in Mt. Orab, the son of the late John Isaac Reed Colthar and Mabel (Wallace) Colthar.
Bob proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked for the Randall Company Division of Textron for 30 years. He enjoyed gardening, working on his tractor and any type of machinery work. He also enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Bengals, Reds, Bearcats, OSU basketball and football, but what he really loved was watching his great-grandsons play football and wrestle.
Bob is survived by four children, Peggy Kenney of Clarksville, Mike Colthar of Lynchburg, Jeff (Theresa J.) Colthar of Lynchburg and Karen Scheffter of Lynchburg; five grandchildren, Rob (Monica) Kenney of Leesburg, Melissa Gebhardt of Minnesota, Rylan Colthar of Dayton, Jamie (Melissa) Tipton of Texas and Robbie (Cindy) Tipton of Peebles; a grandson-in-law, James Hill of Beavercreek; 10 great-grandchildren, Brayden Kenney, Kiefer (Shannon) Gebhardt, Camden Kenney, Deagen Kenney, Kerstin (Kyle) Ledbetter, Logan Younker, Davon Younker, Max Gebhardt, Jamen Hill and Owen Colthar; one great-great-grandson, Beau Gebhardt; a half-brother, Jim (Barb) Colthar of Hillsboro; a half-sister, Caroline Irions of Chillicothe; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Mullins Colthar, in 2009; a granddaughter, Stephanie Kenney Hill, in 2021; a great-grandson, Trey Allen Kenney; a sister, Mary Louise Barr; a brother, Richard Colthar; and a half-brother, Reed Colthar.
Visitation will be held Thursday, March 17, 2022 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Davis-Turner Funeral Home in Lynchburg. Funeral service will take place following visitation Thursday, March 17 at 1 p.m. at the Davis-Turner Funeral Home. Graveside services at 2:45 p.m., with military honors presented by the Highland County Honor Guard, will follow in the Barnes Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Community Care Hospice, 1669 Rombach Ave., Wilmington, Ohio 45177.
