Richard D. Achor, 77, of Wilmington, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2022 in Wilmington.

He was born July 12, 1944 in Hillsboro, the son of the late William Carl Achor and Olive Lavon Edenfield Achor.

Richard graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1962, then went on to Eastern Kentucky University to receive his bachelor's degree and to Xavier University, where he obtained his master's degree. He taught for 35 years. The first seven years were at Wilmington High School, then he went to Southern State Community College, North Campus, for the remaining 28 years. Richard was a member of the Wilmington United Methodist Church and the Wilmington Lion's Club.

Surviving is his sister, Virginia (Jay) Maurer of Troy; sister-in-law, Carlene Achor of Hillsboro; five nieces and nephews, Janet (Steve) Davis, Sue (Don) Webster, Lance Reno, Mark (Gina) Reno and Kristen (Frank) Mazzucco; 12 great-nieces and great-nephews; and three great-great-nieces.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brother, Ivan (Carlene) Achor.

Services will be held at Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home in Wilmington at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 4 with the Rev. Dean Feldmeyer officiating. Interment will follow in the Sugar Grove Cemetery, Wilmington. Friends will be received at funeral home from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, May 4.
