Reynold L. Freshour, 85, of Greenfield, passed away Friday, Jan. 27, 2023 at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe.
He was born Aug. 26, 1937 in Bainbridge, the son of Leslie and Beatrice (Newland) Freshour.
Reyn joined the U.S. Navy in January of 1955 where he served as a Boatswain’s Mate Third Class on the USS Vulcan. For many years after being discharged, he drove a school bus for Greenfield schools. He retired from the Chillicothe Correctional Institution.
He is survived by four grandchildren, Wesley (Amanda) Newman, Brittany (Andrew) Surritt, Erin Freshour and Jennifer Freshour; six great-grandchildren, Drew, Robert, Garret, Dalton, Mason and Charlotte; one sister, Sue Borreson; one brother, James “Jim” (Jean) Freshour; sister-in-law, Connie Freshour; daughter-in-law, Paula Freshour; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty (Plummer) Freshour, on May 31, 2013; one daughter, Barb Saylor; one son, Mike Freshour; six brothers, Gary, Dean, Virgil, Howard and Richard “Dick” Freshour; three sisters, Helen Conley, Jean Yates and Phyllis Newlan; and both parents.
Graveside service will be Wednesday, Feb. 1 at noon at Greenfield Cemetery with Rev. Wayne Combs officiating. Military rites will be provided by the McClain Cadet Corps.
The Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield is serving the family.
