Ret. SGM Robert E. Woolard, also known as “Bob” and “Pops,” 83, passed away Monday, Jan. 18, 2021, after a battle with Alzheimer’s.

Bob loved wildlife and truly enjoyed feeding and caring for the deer and wild turkeys in his beautiful garden of a backyard in Hillsboro. Keeping a "Better Homes and Gardens" picturesque yard was also his passion.

A native of Hillsboro, he lived 30-plus years in Augusta, Ga. after retiring from 26 years of service to our country in the US Army. He also worked as a zone manager for Wackenhut Security at SRS for 15 years. He and his wife returned to Hillsboro and lived there for 10 years prior to returning to the Augusta area in late 2019.

Bob and his wife, Edda, were married for 59 years. He had a loving family consisting of his son, Ralph and daughter-in-law, Fran; his two grandchildren, Meagan Woolard Clark (Jarred) and Avery Robert Woolard (Cassie); three beautiful, healthy great-grandchildren, Jacob Clark, Elijah Clark and Kara Cisco-Woolard, who brought him great joy.

He was preceded in death by his devoted daughter, Neeve Lynn Woolard; and both of his parents, Pearl Wise and Ralph W. Woolard.

Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 106 SRP Drive, Evans, Ga. 30809 or www.alz.org.
