Rebecca Raye “Becky” Gotherman, 82, of Hillsboro, passed away Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021 at the Bethesda North Hospital in Cincinnati.
She was born July 17, 1938 in Manchester, the daughter of the late Raymond and Anna Hughes Shafer.
Becky was a 1956 graduate of Hillsboro High School. She received her degree as a registered nurse in 1959 from the Bethesda School of Nursing in Cincinnati. She was a member of the Hillsboro First United Methodist Church. She had been a Sunday school teacher, was a founding member of Operation Christmas Child in Highland County, was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary and had served on the committee for the Festival of the Bells.
She is survived by her husband, Marvin Gotherman, whom she married June 25, 1961; three daughters, Beth (Donald) Watts of Cleveland, Tracy (Chuck) Wait of Hillsboro and Donna (Brian) Waller of Hillsboro; bonus daughters, Rebecca Moore and Megan Ross; exchange students, Ana, Gracey, Fumi and Norma; nine grandchildren, Adrienne (Josh) Rudy, Nathan Loch, Courtney (Branden) Williams, Emily Loch, Megan (Shawn) Roades, Morgan (Craig) Fauber, Mariah (Dillon) Davis, Brandon (Amber) Waller and Mikala (Ben) Warfield; 11 great-grandchildren, Joseph, Abigail, Jayden and Jackson Rudy, Adnee and Penelope Loch, Gracie Williams, Tanner and Hallie Sue Roades, Carter and Claire Fauber and soon-to-be-announced baby Waller; and great-nieces Danielle and Diedre.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Doris Donohoo; and a niece, Debbie McKinley.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20 at the Hillsboro First United Methodist Church. Pastor Derek Russell will officiate. Burial will follow in the Sugartree Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home.
