Perry A. Harewood, 72, of Hillsboro, died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017 at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 16, 1945 in Hillsboro, the son of the late H. Bernard and Harriet Williams Harewood.
Mr. Harewood had been a production and inventory control supervisor for the Hobart Corporation for over 30 years. He was a member and served as a trustee for the Wayman Chapel A.M.E. Church and was a 1962 graduate of Hillsboro High School.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Steward Harewood, whom he had married Jan. 12, 1990; two children, Anthony (Janice) Morton and Sheila (Byron) McGee of Wilmington;, six grandchildren, Nia (Shawn) Williams, Anthony (Paige) Morton Jr., Tyler McGee, Joshua (Ciara) McGee, Sydni McGee and Jeremy Morton; one brother, Wendell (Freda) Harewood of Hillsboro; special niece, Lisa Cason of Columbus; one aunt, Edna Rainey of Columbus; sister-in-law, Melba Harewood of Hillsboro; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bernard “Butch” Harewood and Michael W. Harewood.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 6 at the Wayman Chapel A.M.E. Church, 144 West Pleasant Street, Hillsboro. Rev. Tim Booker will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 5-7 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home.
