Paul C. Ogg (Lt. Col. Ret.), 79, of Hillsboro, died Sunday, March 15, 2015 at his home.
He was born Jan. 19, 1936 in Greenfield, the son of the late William Emery and Valeria Littler Ogg.

Mr. Ogg had retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army after over 20 years, serving four tours of duty in Vietnam, receiving a Purple Heart with one Oak Cluster, a Silver Star, an Army Commendation Medal w/V dev and two Oak Leaf Clusters, Vietnam Gallantry Cross w/Palm, Vietnam Jump Wings Air Medal w/V dev and a Bronze Star Medal w/V dev and three Oak Leaf Clusters.

After his retirement from military service, Mr. Ogg became the Director of Operations for the Williamsburg/James City County Schools in Virginia for 15 years. He was a 1954 graduate of Greenfield McClain High School, received his master’s degree in education from the University of Southern California, his law degree from LaSalle University and had attended the Command and General Staff College in Ft. Leavenworth.

He was a life member of the VFW Post 9094, life member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, a member of the Delaware American Legion Post 0888, a member of the first families of Highland County and was a Son of the American Revolution.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Jean Dodd Ogg, whom he had married Aug. 12, 1969 in Augusta, Ga.; one son, William (Heather) Ogg of New Jersey; two wonderful granddaughters, Isabella and Abigail Ogg; three sisters, Betty (Ken) Carpenter of Columbus, Dorothy (David) Moon of Washington CH and Ada (Harold) Gutridge of Lancaster; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Mildred Nina Ogg Williams.

Services will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, March 19 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Pastor Joe Current will officiate. Burial, with full military honors, will follow at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va. Friends may call on Thursday from noon until 3 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home. The Highland County Honor Guard will pay tribute to their fallen comrade following services at the funeral home.
