Patience Feike, daughter of James Harlan Allen and Elizabeth Francis Allen, passed away on March 14, 2016 at the age of 100.

Patience was born in Fairfield County on July 26, 1915. In 1933, she was graduated from Thurston High School.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Helen, Hattie and Francis; brother, Olin; and parents James and Elizabeth. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Stephen, Jr. in 1990.

Patience attended Capital University in Columbus, graduating in 1938 with a bachelor's degree in music and public school music. For 30 years, Patience taught music in the schools of Brown County and Highland County. She retired from teaching in 1978.

Stephen Feike, Jr. and Patience Allen were married in August 1943. They resided on their farm in Sardinia all their married life. Along with farming, they were active in the breeding, training and showing of Morgan horses and belonged to KYOVA and the American Morgan Horse Association. They competed in shows and fairs in Ohio and Kentucky where they won many ribbons and trophies. Patience continued training and showing their horses after the death of her husband in 1990. Patience volunteered at Samaritan Outreach in Hillsboro for 16 years compassionately serving the Highland County residents. She was also a member of the Highland County Farm Council. Patience was very active in the Presbyterian Church in Sardinia all of her adult life. She taught Sunday School classes and participated in the women's organizations. For most of her adult years, she provided beautiful music for the morning worship service. She also willingly played for any meeting or special service.
The last 10 years of her life she resided at Liberty Residence in Wadsworth.

Services will be Saturday, March 19 at the Sardinia Presbyterian Church.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. with a memorial service following at 1 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Sardinia Presbyterian Church or Samaritan Outreach in Hillsboro.
