Opal Juanita Moore, 90, of Hillsboro, died Monday, Sept. 11, 2017 at The Laurels of Hillsboro.
She was born the daughter of the late Walter and Goldie Herdman Newman on July 27, 1927 in Adams County.
She was a member of the Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene, where she taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school. She worked at Candle-lite in Leesburg for a total of 27 years as well as working for a period of time at Robertshaw Controls in Hillsboro.
She is survived by three children, Terry Gene (Ruth) Moore of Lynchburg, Carol Sue (Floyd) Colville of Hillsboro and Connie Lou (Leon) Johnson of Hillsboro; one sister, Delorice Smith of Lynchburg; eight grandchildren, Eddie (Diena) Moore, Christa Moore, Teresa (Dan) Snapp, Trenda (Mitch) Davis and Kevin Colville; great-grandchildren, Cheyenne and Paul Hughes, Luke Davis, Ivy, Nevaeh and Linken Colville, Tyler and Ethan Snapp and Brandon Hill; and great-great grandchildren, Brandon, Brayden and Zander Hill and Ivy Blair. Juanita also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to mourn her passing.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul L. Moore, to whom she was united in marriage on Nov. 1, 1946. Also preceding her in death were one brother, Forest Newman; and one sister, Bonnie Jean Taulbee.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017 at the Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 15, 2017 at the Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene at 1 p.m. Rev. Tom Zile will officiate. Burial will follow at Locust Grove Cemetery.
