Omer “Junior” Price Jr., 86, of Hillsboro, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024 at UC Medical Center.

He was born July 2, 1938 in Crab Orchard, Ky., the son of the late Omer Price Sr. and Mahala Howard Price.

Junior loved spending time with family, all things sports, and spiritual time at home. You would most often find him out on the golf course with his golfing buddies or each morning at McDonald's hanging out with friends and sharing stories. Junior was a kind, friendly man who never met a stranger. If you knew him, you would expect a hug.

He was always active; if he wasn’t at a sporting event, he was working on his farm. In 1970, Junior bought farmland adjoining his brothers property. He loved the land and farmed it up until three years ago.

Junior was a member of the Hillsboro Global Methodist Church, National Guard, Hillsboro Eagles #1161, Elks Lodge #361 and Highland Masonic Lodge #38. One of Junior’s proudest accomplishments was being drafted by the Chicago Cubs after high school in 1957.

Junior is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patricia “Patty” Mullenix Price; three sons, Brian Price, Doug (Kelly) Price and Chad Price, all of Hillsboro; grandchildren, Anthony Price, Amanda (Jake) Caskey, Hunter Price, Cody Price, Ainsley (Tyler) Arnold, Morgan (Aaron) Brooks, Kaylan (Nathan) Nehus and Whitlee (Michael) Theobold; great-grandchildren, Paislee, Parker, Harper, Hallie, Asher, Easton, Owen, Ivan, Brylee and McKenna; siblings, Christine Griffith, Henry Price and Kenny (Alice) Price; many nieces and nephews; and many friends and golfing buddies.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Howard Price Sr., Doris Roades, Jim Price, Marie Lands and Mary Lee Helton; and brothers and sisters in-law, Audrey Price, Jerry Griffith, Pat Price, Nellie Price, Birtsyl Roades, Phyllis Price, Paul Lands and Elijah Helton Sr.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024 from 10 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. at the Hillsboro Global Methodist Church, 133 E. Walnut St, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133. In keeping with his wishes, Junior will be cremated following services.

Memorial donations can be made in Junior’s name to Global Methodist Church, 133 E. Walnut St., Hillsboro 45133 or Hillsboro Athletic Association, 550 US 62 S, Hillsboro 45133 or Ohio Elks Association, 451 Danville Pike, Hillsboro 45133.
