Norbert C. “Norb” Blomer, 69, of Fayetteville, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born Feb. 26, 1947 in Cincinnati, the son of the late Charles and Mildred (Litfin) Blomer.
He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to ride horses, boat, hunt, fish and camp. He had owned and operated landscaping and photography businesses over the years and thoroughly enjoyed farming. He retired from General Electric in 2002 after 35 years of service. He touched many lives through his various hobbies and interests and leaves many loyal friends. He was a very proud United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Hazel (Daniels) Blomer, whom he married on July 8, 1967 in Cincinnati. He is also survived by three daughters, Charlee (fiancé Mark Bradshaw) Blomer and Bridget (Mark) Proctor, both of Lynchburg, and Yvette (John) Sharp of Wilmington; five grandchildren, Codie Vest, Brittney Smith, Luke Smith, Zackary Proctor and Austin Proctor; a great-grandson, Bryson Sedam; a brother, Bill (Marsha) Blomer of Ocala, Fla.; a brother-in-law, Gary (Emma) Daniels; as well as two close friends, Mike (Linda) Warren and David (Debbie) Brown, both of Hillsboro.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his parents-in-law, with whom he was very close, Herman and Sarah Daniels.
The funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Burial with military honors presented by the Highland County Honor guard will follow in the Little Rock Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
