Nancy Kay Burns

Nancy Kay Burns, 62, of Mowrystown, passed away Friday evening, Aug. 21, 2015 at the Hospice of Hope Ohio Valley Inpatient Center, Seaman.
She was born Nov. 9, 1952 in Hillsboro, the daughter of the late Robert and Marie (Markins) Hamilton.
On Oct. 3, 1970 in Hillsboro, she married Richard Burns, who survives.
Kay was a member of Presbyterian Church of Sardinia. She had many hobbies and interests, including reading; writing, as she had published fiction and poetry, published magazine articles and was the editor of a local paper; the outdoors, as she had a greenhouse business and enjoyed gardening and hiking; cooking and baking; spending time with her grandchildren; knitting and sewing; and canning vegetables from her garden.
In addition to her husband, other surviving family members are her two sons, Joseph (Mary) Burns of Newport, Ky. and Travis (Chrissy) Burns of Williamsburg, Ohio; grandchildren, Emma Burns, Harper Burns, Arianna Burns, Kara Burns, Cailyn Kohus and William Kohus; brother, Robert (Carrie) Hamilton of Lebanon, Tenn.; and a sister, Lynn (Galen) Neal of Hillsboro.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2015 at Edgington Funeral Home, 17 East Main Street, Mowrystown with Pastor Bob Obermeyer officiating. Interment will follow in the Mowrystown Cemetery.
Friends will be received from noon until the time of services at the Edgington Funeral Home.
