Michael Eugene Armstrong, 65, of Chillicothe, passed away suddenly, Monday, June 18, 2018 at home.  
 
He was born Sept. 9, 1952 in Danville, Ill., the son of the late James Leroy and Myra Jane Johnson Armstrong.
 
Mike was a friendly and soft-spoken person who enjoyed nature. He was an United States Army veteran, having served in Frankfort, Germany. Mike received his bachelor's degree from Eastern Illinois University and retired from the Chillicothe VA Medical Center after 27 years of service. He was also a former member of the Chillicothe Lions Club.
 
Surviving are his wife, Jana Aldridge Armstrong, whom he married Dec. 24, 1986; a brother, Daniel (Nancy) Armstrong of Zionsville, Ind.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John (Dana) Bales of Wilmington; sisters-in-law, Sharon Bales of Leesburg and Katherine (Mitch) Mitchell of Seaman; nieces, Chrissy Armstrong of Zionsville, Jenny (Charlie) Gonzalez of Key West, Fla. and Sarah Villegas of Chicago, Ill.; and many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and one great-great-nephew. He will be missed by his beloved dog, Bridgette.
 
In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Villegas; and a sister-in-law, Kay Aldridge.
 
Graveside services will be held at Samantha Methodist Cemetery on Saturday, June 23, 2018 immediately following the visitation where the Highland County Honor Guard will accord full military honors.
 
Friends will be received at Rhoads-Edgington Funeral Home, 138 E. Main St. Hillsboro on Saturday, June 23, 2018, from 1-2 p.m.
 
Contributions in Mike's memory may be made to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
