Mary Ruth Cook, 85, of Greenfield, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Signature Healthcare of Washington Court House.
She was born in Tazwell County, Va. on Jan. 31, 1933, the daughter of John Robert Smith and Lucy (Sparks) Smith.
She was a former employee of Collins Meat Packing in Greenfield.
She is survived by two sisters, Frances (Sam) Raines of Choctaw, Okla. and Anna Conkel of Greenfield; numerous nieces and nephews, including: Nancy (Jim) Rhodes of Greenfield, Patty (John) Hollen of Hillsboro, Sue (Dave) Leaverton of Greenfield and Kim (Rob) Hazlett of Greenfield; one step-granddaughter, Vicki Archer Walls of New Vienna; three step-great-grandchildren, Tonia (Chris) Vorhies of Chillicothe, Theresa (Jeremy) Streitenberger of Leesburg and John (Amanda) Waits of Sardinia; and special friends, Esto Haithcock and Sonia Haithcock.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Cook on Sept. 11, 1968; one step-daughter, Loretta Archer; one step-granddaughter, Robin Waits; eight brothers; four sisters; and both parents.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 21 at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield with Pastor Esto Haithcock officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenfield Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
