Mary E. Harris, 81, of Wilmington, passed away unexpectedly Friday, Dec. 13, 2024.

Born Sept. 8, 1943, Mary was a graduate of Wilmington High School. She worked in factories for years, where she met many great friends. Mary retired from Hood Packaging. During her retirement, Mary enjoyed shopping with her friends, trips to the casino, dancing at special occasions and get togethers, cooking and taking care of others. Above all she truly loved and cherished her time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Mary is survived by two daughters Jennifer Harris Puller and Kimberly Washington; also surviving are six grandchildren, David (Amber) Washington, Marcus Nared, Sarah Washington, Jessika (Michael) Hoskins, Justin (Lydia) Puller and Blair Washington; 11 great-grandchildren, Jennika, Josiah, Kiairah, Serenity, Breslin, Brielle, Kymree, 
Layla, Jaxon, Aiden and Christopher; three siblings Norman Hamilton, Brian Hamilton and Wayne Hamilton; and two bonus sisters, Gloria Nance and Ava Johns.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Harris; and her parents, Norman Hamilton and Ruby Hamilton.

Private services will be held Saturday, Dec. 21 at the convenience of the family at the Fisher-Edgington Funeral Home with Pastor Byron McGee officiating. Burial will follow in the Sugar Grove Cemetery.
