Marvin Daryl Gotherman, 84, of Hillsboro, passed away peacefully Monday, Jan. 31, 2022 at his home with his daughters and grandchildren by his side.

He was born Jan. 23, 1938, in the Sugartree Ridge community, the son of the late John “Jack” Gotherman and Wilma (Badgley) Gotherman.

Marvin was a 1956 graduate from Hillsboro High School, and he met the love of his life, Rebecca “Becky” Gotherman, during those years, and later married her on June 25, 1961. He worked in commercial construction, mostly in the Wilmington, Ohio area, for over 40 years.

He was a member of the Hillsboro First United Methodist Church, past member of the Hillsboro Jaycees, member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, past board member of the Southern Ohio Pregnancy Center and a member of the “Operation Christmas Child” in Highland County, which was Marvin and his wife’s passion. He was a member of the National Wildlife Federation, and he had a great love for all animals and respect for nature. He enjoyed the outdoors, woodworking, taking his family boating and camping, and when he wasn’t working you could find him tinkering in his garage, which he had converted into his own mancave. He will be deeply missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Raye “Becky” Gotherman, on Jan. 14, 2021; an infant brother, Dickey Gotherman; a half-brother, Wendell Gotherman; and a brother-in-law, Pete Green.
