Martha Jane Wait, 78, of Lynchburg, passed away Thursday, Aug. 5, 2021 at Crestwood Ridge Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation in Hillsboro.
She was born Oct. 18, 1942 in Albany, Ky., the daughter of the late William Jesse and Georgia Ada (Honeycutt) Norris.
She was a homemaker and devoted mother.
She is survived by three daughters, Georgiana (Paul) Miller and Pamela (Andy) Keaton, both of Lynchburg, and Sally (Daniel) Alegria of Corpus Christi, Texas; one sister, Beulah Wells of Mt. Orab; grandchildren, Joshua Davidson, Kelly Dyer, Stephen, Erick and Benjamin Henize and Belia, Angelina and Olivia Alegria; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by the father of her children, Charles Marvin Whiting; second husband, Othel Jones; third husband, Paul Wait; one daughter, Mary Dobbins; three sisters, Mary Means, Ruby Groce and Margaret Undine Shelley; and five brothers, Edward, Bruce, Joe, Schuyler and Fred Norris.
Funeral service will be Saturday, Aug. 14 at noon at the Davis-Turner Funeral Home in Lynchburg. Pastor Robert Miller will officiate. Burial will follow in the New Vienna IOOF Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.
