Martha Ellen Phillips, 93, of Hillsboro, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2017, at her residence. 

Martha was born in 1924 in Fairfax.

Preceding her in death were her loving parents, Charles and Mary Bess Cox; her brothers, Donald Cox and Roy Cox; her dear sister, Mary Emery; two sisters-in-law, Mary Ellen Cox and Kathryn Cox; and one brother-in-law, Hugh Emery.

Martha was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a true friend to all. She expected much from herself and gave much to others.

She was not only our mother, but our best friend, confidant, problem-solver and a true inspiration of life and love. With her support and encouragement, we were able to reach our goals and dreams. She will be truly missed by all.

Martha was a member of the Prospect United Methodist Church and the Prospect WSCS. Her faith in our Heavenly Father was strong and unwavering.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond, of 73 years; one son, James (Dinah) Phillips of Hillsboro; two daughters, Lonnette (Don) Hamilton and Yolanda Williamson of Hillsboro; eight grandchildren, Michelle (Andrew) Cimis, Mark (Jamey) Phillips, Melanie Phillips, Natalie Hamilton, Allison (Jason) Bentley, Chad (Andrea) Williamson, Tara (Geoff) Williamson and Clint (Cassie) Williamson; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. 

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 20 at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Pastor John Waugh will officiate. Burial will follow in the Prospect Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Prospect United Methodist Church, 5759 W New Market Road, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133.
