Marilyn Y. Allen

Marilyn Y. Allen, 83, of Washington Court House, formerly of Leesburg, passed away Friday, Sept. 4 at her home.
She was born May 7, 1932, in Georgetown, the daughter of the late Thomas L. Britain and Mabel Marie (McCarty) Britain of Hillsboro.
She was a member of the Leesburg United Methodist Church.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by three children, Diane (Robert) Rhoads of Georgia, Janice Davidson of Washington C.H. and David (Stacey) Allen of Hillsboro; eight grandchildren, Christina (Nick) Swearingen of Greenfield, Jason Rhoads of Georgia, Jeffrey (Jessica Cordrey) Cox, Bradley Cox and Jennifer (Tony) Manson, all of Washington C.H., Kylie Allen, Corey Allen and Elizabeth Corcoran, all of Hillsboro; six great-grandchildren, Brock Swearingen, Mackenzie Cox, Makiah Cox, Jocelyn Cox Ursell, Kentley Cox and Kendall Cordrey; a brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Alicia Britain of Hillsboro; many nieces and nephews, as well as special friends Richard and Trudy Wright of Washington C.H. and Clay and Zelda Farrow of Leesburg.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Laverne Robert Allen, on March 11, 2010; a son, Johnny Lee Allen; and a brother and sister-in-law, John and Audrey Britain.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10 at the Leesburg United Methodist Church. Pastor Tom Knauff will officiate. Burial will follow in the Ash Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. on Thursday at the church.
