Margene Dorton, 96, of Hillsboro, died Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016 at the Hospice of Hope Ohio Valley Inpatient Center in Seaman.
She was born May 29, 1920 in Dodsonville, the daughter of the late Charles and Auda Cochran Brown.
Mrs. Dorton, along with her husband Bill, owned and operated Dorton Mill in Dodsonville for many years. She was a member of the Hillsboro Church of Christ.
She is survived by four children, Ronald (Nancy) Dorton of Washington Court House, Carolyn (Thom) Yehl of Centerville, Virginia, Peggy (John) Reynolds of Mason and Nora Dorton of Hillsboro; eight grandchildren, Rebecca Dorton, David Dorton, Deborah (Dan) Johnson, Sarah (Keith) Sowell, Jonathan Dorton, Jean (Jonathan) Malloch, Father Tom Yehl and Anne Yehl; four great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tom and Sue Archibald of Hillsboro.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William H. Dorton on Feb. 17, 1992.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20 at the Hillsboro Church of Christ. Jim Bush will officiate. Burial will follow in the Barker Cemetery in Pricetown. Friends may call on Monday from 5-8 p.m. at the Hillsboro Church of Christ.
