Maggie Jane Couch
Maggie Jane Couch
Maggie Jane Couch, 85, of Hillsboro, passed away Thursday, Dec. 19, 2024 at Trustwell Living at Bell Gardens Place.
She was born on April 3, 1939, in Booneville, Ky., the daughter of the late Leonard and Lydia (Reed) Bishop.
Maggie was a Christian for 62 years and attended The House of Prayer in Hillsboro, when able. She loved singing at church and taught Sunday school in her earlier years. She retired from Clermont Mercy Hospital as an environmental aide. She loved taking care of her home inside and out. She raised her kids with a strict expectation for cleanliness, both personally and inside the home. She was meticulous with her car as well. She was known to hand wash it inside the garage even in the wintertime. She loved fixing her homegrown and canned green beans with whole potatoes for family gatherings. Her banana pudding always brought a smile to the faces of the big and little kids. You never had to worry about getting your belly full! Maggie loved shopping, especially at thrift store, aka Shillito’s.
At the age of 66 after the passing of her husband, she was forced to learn new skills. She became very proficient at using a riding lawn mower and weed eating, which resulted in a beautiful yard. She was stubborn and uncompromising, which helped her live to a ripe old age of 85.
Maggie is survived by her three children, Karen (William) Rowe of South Carolina, Elaine (Paul) Carter of Leesburg and David Couch of Blanchester; nine grandchildren, Chris (Nicole) Caldwell, Jennifer (Tommy Davidson) Caldwell, Paul (Chantsey) Carter Jr., Heather (Larry) Winterrod, Britney Couch, Patrick (Taylor Hartness) Couch, Stephanie (Brandon) Ruhstaller, Emily Couch and Alex Couch; numerous great-grandchildren; a brother, Ben (Debbie) Bishop; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Adren Couch; a son, Adren Lance Couch; five siblings, Ivy Clouse, Roy Bishop, Ethel Sunnycab, Carl Bishop and Helen Osborne.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 26 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. on Thursday following visitation at the funeral home. Burial will follow services in the Williamsburg Cemetery. The Couch family would like to invite all family and friends to join them at the Owensville Church of God, 4703 Elmwood Road, Batavia, to continue celebrating Maggie’s life following her committal services.
