Lois Faye (Herndon) Drake, 71, of Hillsboro, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, Nov. 29, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born Aug. 24, 1946 in Tazewell County, Va., the daughter of Parker and Minnie Elizabeth (Puckett) Herndon.
She was a member of the Fairview Church of Christ, enjoyed genealogy and loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her mother, Minnie Elizabeth Rose of New Market; three children, Lisa (Ted) Mahan and Joanna (Tom) Mahan, both of Hillsboro, and Gary Lee (Lisa) Drake of Blanchester; seven grandchildren, Nichole Mahan of Wilmington, N.C., Tiffany (Travis) McRoberts of Sardinia, Joshua (Lisa) Mahan of Hillsboro, Robin Long of Mowrystown, Sheena (Robert) Drake-Samms of Hillsboro, Debra Mahan of Wilmington and Cory Mahan of Hillsboro; five great-grandchildren, Victoria and Landon McRoberts, Liam Mahan and Nicholas and Elizabeth Long; numerous step-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Glenna Dean Walker of New Market and JoAnn Fremder of Dayton.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Gary L. Drake, Sr., on Oct. 7, 2015; her father, Parker Herndon; and her stepfather, Marvin Rose.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Don Thomas and Bob Wickline will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hamer Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
